Mountain View High School Marching Band Fees

For your convenience, you can now make payments to
the Mountain View Band Parents Association through PayPal.
(We ask that you please add 3% to the total amount to your payment to help
cover the fee we are charged for using Paypal)

Returning Members

$ 200.00 *

The member fees for participation in marching band include uniform rental and maintenance fees, instruction, entry fees for competitions and the cost for travel  to marching band festivals.

New Members

$ 225.00 *

In addition to the fee for returning members, the cost for new members includes the "informal uniform" polo shirt, MV Band cap and required music folio.
 

* Additional fees are required for members of some marching band sections. 
Instrument Rental (details below) and marching band shoes are not included in the band member fee.

** Any band family in need of an amended payment schedule or payment assistance should contact the Director of Bands to arrange a confidential meeting to discuss available options.  This meeting must be arranged by the parent or guardian.  Student attendance at this meeting is not required.

The Marching Band Deposit is Non-Refundable.

This deposit reserves your position as the marching band show is designed and written over the spring and summer months. Students deciding to join marching band after this due date will be allowed on a space-available basis and will only be accepted as an alternate awaiting an open position in the drill.  Students moving into the MVHS attendance area who are new to Stafford County will be accepted into marching band on a reserve basis, but will be given priority as positions become available. Our marching band drill will be written based on the number of deposits received by the due date.

The Marching Band Member Fee also includes the following items

Band Uniform Cleaning and Maintenance Fee

Required by Stafford County Public Schools, this fee covers regular dry cleaning expenses as well as expenses for alterations and other required uniform maintenance.  Students and parents must complete the Uniform Rental Agreement form.

Band Gloves

White “grip” gloves with rubberized dots on palm for secure grip of instrument. All winds will be issued 2 pair of gloves.  Additional gloves to replace those lost or soiled beyond use will be the responsibility of the student.

The Marching Band Member Fee for NEW MEMBERS includes the following items
(Returning members who need to replace any of these items will be charged separately)

Band Polo Shirt

Maroon pique knit polo with embroidered MVHS band logo for use as a  part of our "informal uniform".  The remainder of the informal uniform will consist of approved, light-colored Khaki pants or shorts which must be supplied by the student.  The informal uniform is worn on Fridays during the marching season as well as travel wear for some marching band trips.

MVHS Cap

"Official" MVHS Ball Cap for wearing in the stands or with the informal uniform.  No other caps will be allowed while in any MVHS Band uniform (including informal uniform.)  The MVHS Band cap is a required part of the uniform for some events.

Flip Folio

Required for marching band music in the stands.  All wind instrument players must provide their own lyre (music folio holder) that attaches securely to their instrument for use in the stands.  Lyres can be purchased from any local, full-service band instrument retailer.

The following items are not included in the Band Member Fees and will need to be purchased separately

Band Shoes

Approved white marching band shoes specifically designed for marching performance.  Students will be fitted for the correct size on Tuesday August 19th during band camp.

Color Guard Shoes

Black color guard/dance shoe, leather upper, non-marking, tapered, low profile, true dance sole.  Students will be fitted for the correct size on Tuesday August 19th during band camp.

Band Instrument/Equipment Rental Fee

Required by SCPS, this fee applies to anyone using school equipment: Wind Instruments and all Percussion (Concert, Marching and Jazz).  If you are participating in more than one ensemble only one fee is required.  Students and parents must complete the Instrument Rental Agreement form and return it to the Director of Bands on the first day of Band Camp, Monday, August 11, 2008.  Checks for the Instrument Rental Fee should be made payable to: Mountain View High School
